Finding A Trustworthy Memory Foam Mattress Review

When you’re trying to find information about the finest memory foam mattress available, there are some things to watch for, not just in the information about the mattresses, but on the review websites themselves. A memory foam mattress review written on a mattress company’s own site may be less credible than one from a neutral website. Similarly, an organization that chronicles all of the tests they have done on double, queen and king size memory foam mattress products, and then posting the results on its site, might carry more weight than posts on a blog that claim to be objective, yet always seem to push one brand.

A manufacturer itself is unlikely to have a negative memory foam mattress review at its own site. Indeed, the company might do some viral marketing, hiring people to post reviews at other sites, to the effect that this brand is the best memory foam mattress around. But you can often detect this sort of thing by watching carefully. Even a well-loved mattress product will get some mixed reviews, but if these are suddenly pushed off the front page by a spate of ultra-positive reviews, then that ought to raise a red flag immediately.

Sites that test different brands of memory foam beds and post results are likely more trustworthy. Consumer Reports does this, and www.consumersearch.com posts reviews from other reputable sources. There are also some individuals, like Geoff Milburn at the www.gmilburn.ca website, who will post a memory foam mattress review and list detailed research results and their conclusions. You might also check sites that cater to people with back or hip problems, because their reviews will be more concerned with their readers’ welfare than pushing a company’s products. Of course, if any such site is itself sponsored by a memory foam bed manufacturer, then that ought to raise questions.

How can you really trust a memory foam mattress review, then? The reliable reviews do take work to uncover. You might get a balanced view by checking the website of a particular seller and entering that brand name into a search engine. If it really is the best product ever, then there will be reviews on other sites that are just as enthusiastic as the ones on the company’s site. But if the seller is engaging in viral marketing, negative reviews will still show up in a web search. Eventually, it will become clear which foam mattress memory brand really is the best.

  1. I like your point about review sites not bashing their own products. I think there will be a lot less of that kind of biased reviewing going on now that the FTC has started aggressively looking for bogus “review” sites that are just a disguise for affiliate marketers to make commissions by recommending products. Even sites that review several brands might be getting affiliate commissions from each one so no matter which one you buy, they get paid. Thanks for bringing out this information.

  2. Wow! You really covered this topic well. Are there other resources that I should check out?
